What is a Google Business Profile audit?
It reviews every field AI assistants read first—categories, services, attributes, hours, service areas, and posts—against what's working in your market. Incomplete or wrong fields force AI to infer what you do, and inference is where competitors get named instead of you. The audit shows which fields are incomplete and which fixes move visibility fastest.
What we audit
We check three things—completeness, specificity, and consistency—against your actual business and the competitors already winning your market.
- CategoriesPrimary and secondary categories match what customers actually search for.
- ServicesServices and descriptions listed—and matching your website.
- AttributesEmergency service, online estimates, women-led, and the rest filled in.
- HoursCurrent hours, including holiday and special hours.
- Service areasEvery city you serve listed—and matching what your website claims.
- Photos & postsAn active profile, not a stale one.
GBP gaps that block AI matching
These are the gaps we see when a business is ranked but still isn't named by AI. None of them are a ranking problem—each is a profile gap with a specific fix.
The category that's too broad
Your profile lists "Plumbing." A customer asks an assistant for "emergency water damage repair." AI matches the broad category, can't confirm your specialty, and names the competitor whose profile carries the exact category. You were a fit—you just weren't matchable.
A service area you forgot to list
You serve a neighboring city, but your profile omits it. A customer in that city asks an assistant for your service. AI reads your service area, sees the city isn't there, and won't name you for that search—no matter how well you rank at home.
Hours and phone that don't verify
Your hours are stale or your phone number is outdated. AI can't confirm you're open or reachable, so it treats the profile as low-confidence and skips you for a competitor whose details are current. Verification is half of what AI uses to decide.
