AI or SI? The Name Changed. How You Get Found Didn't.

In September 2026 the U.S. government began using "super intelligence" (SI) instead of "artificial intelligence" (AI) in official documents. For a local business, nothing about getting found changes. ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok still decide who to recommend by reading your Google Business Profile, your website and your directory listings. Whatever it's called, those are what it reads.

    What happened

On September 22, speaking at the United Nations, President Trump said U.S. government documents would use the term "super intelligence" in place of "artificial intelligence." The State Department then told diplomats to make the switch in official materials. It's a change in government language. It doesn't change how the tools themselves work.

What it means for your business

When someone asks an assistant, "Who's the best plumber near me?", it usually names one or two businesses, not ten. It picks the ones whose information is clear and consistent everywhere it looks:

    • Your Google Business Profile: the right categories, a services list that matches what you actually sell, current hours, real photos, replies to reviews.
    • Your website: it says the same thing as your profile. Same name, same address, same services.
    • Your listings: directories like Yelp, Apple Maps and Bing agree with both.

When those three match, you're easy to recommend. When they don't, the recommendation goes to someone else. The name on the technology doesn't change that.

What you don't need to do

    • You don't need to rename anything on your website to "SI."
    • You don't need a new "super intelligence" service.
    • Watch out for pitches that promise to "tune the super-intelligent algorithm." Nobody has access to that.

    What we do

Whether it's called AI or SI, we make sure your business gets cited locally. We check what the assistants say about your business today, then fix the profile, website and listing gaps in order. We guarantee the work gets done every month, not the rankings.

    Questions

Is "SI" a different technology from AI?

No. It's a new name the U.S. government is using for the same tools.

Do I need to change my marketing to say SI?

No. Your customers still say "AI," and the assistants still read the same information about your business.

Will this change how ChatGPT or Google recommends businesses?

The name change itself doesn't. They still rely on your Google profile, website and listings agreeing with each other.
